HPR Cross country 2017
HPR’s successful cross-country season ended with a bang last week Wednesday at the cross country Inter High which was held at Ermelo High School.
The high school cross-country season consists of 4 leagues races and the Inter High. This year the leagues were run at Standerton High, Volkrust High, Carolina Akademiese Skool and Oosteland.
The best points earned from 3 of the leagues plus the points earned at Inter High are counted together to determine a league winner. At the Inter High meeting there is also a competition for the best team on the day, as well as individual medals for the first three places.
The senior girls team won two bronze medals, they came third at Inter high and third overall in the league. The team which consisted Elizabeth Carr, Taryn Yiollaris, MJ Klingenberg, Karien du Toit, Lienkie du Toit and Melissa Erasmus. Well done senior girls we are proud of you.
Elizabeth Carr won the senior girls race, edging out a Secunda High runner in the last 100m.
There are between 60 – 80 runners in each age group.
The best junior girl for the season was Carmen Klingenberg, and her best was an 18th place.
The best senior girls were Elizabeth Carr (two 3rd places, a 5th place and two 1st places) and Karien du Toit (10th, 11th and an 18th place).
The best junior boys were Tiaan van der Merwe (9th and 13th place) and Sibusiso Dlamini (16th and 18th)
The best senior boys were Bongani Mkhonza (17th and 18th) and Heindrich Lamprecht (16th and 20th).
